About

A native of Union County, Chuck Brooks has practiced law in Monroe since 1985. Chuck earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Guilford College. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina. Chuck is a trial lawyer, having represented individuals charged with crimes ranging from simple assault to capital murder. He has represented clients on appeal before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of North Carolina.

In 1995, Chuck appeared before the Supreme Court of North Carolina and argued that his client was wrongfully convicted of First Degree Murder based upon a theory of acting in concert. The Supreme Court agreed and vacated the client’s murder conviction and remanded for a new trial on the remaining charges.

Beyond his criminal defense practice, Chuck has represented those who have suffered a catastrophic injury in personal injury and wrongful death actions. In one instance, a young boy lost four fingers when his hand was crushed between a tractor trailer truck and a loading dock. Following a jury trial, Chuck secured a jury verdict in excess of $1,000,000; the largest verdict in a personal injury trial at that time in Union County.
